For those who have it, may I present the cure, for those that don’t… we envy you! Welcome to the Short Weekend Syndrome Corner, for all the water cooler slash twitter updates you can muster. This week’s remedy is happening at The Rio on Broadway this Thursday. I, Patrick Maliha, have the great privilege of MC’ing another amazing night of hilarious variety acts, sexy dancing ladies and of course killer stand-up comedy. The last Legion of Stand-Up Comedians show was such an incredible success we simply had to do another one!! And thanks to the good people at Cariboo Brewing, we’ll have some amazing swag and give-aways for our lucky audience members! Dude!
Now, most comedy shows usually have two to three comedians, an MC, a Headliner and… well that’s about it. Boooooooring! The show this week is gonna be so off da hook y’all that we’re going to have a slew of acts. Wurd to your Mother!! (*Editor’s Note: Is there a DeLorean parked outside of where you’re writing this, Patrick? What’s with all of the 90’s street slang?) On the show we’ve got Mikey Wolfe; a hilarious funny guy shooting his way up the comedy ladder and Jenny Magenta; a demented comedic burlesque girl who will perform her famous Bride From Hell and Janis Joplin bits. But that’s not all! We’ve also got the comedy signing/guitar duo Mom’s on The Run, the rib-tickling sarcastic Jane Stanton, the sugar coated razor blade Erica Sigurdson and the brilliant stand-up comedy of the King of East Van, Dylan Rhymer. And as if that isn’t enough we’ve also got the sweet, sweet dancers of Les Femme Fatale! I’m telling you hombre and hombrettes, this show is gonna be so wicked awesome, it’s going to be bad! Wurd to your mother! Again!
With that many award winning comedians, amazing special guests and crazy awesome drink specials, you’re pretty much guaranteed a good time*. And hey, it’s a great excuse to party on a Thursday night! With a fully licensed bar, a great location next to the skytrain, bus routes and no hockey game that night, there ain’t no excuse for you to not be there, you social-situation-avoider! I’m sorry, that last part was harsh. I apologise. I’ve been under a lot of stress lately and it’s just that I haven’t seen you in such a long time, blah, blah, blah (*Editor’s Note: That could quite possibly be the worst apology ever)
